Morgantown Children's & Youth Choirs

Music Director  and Conductor

2016 - 2020

The MORGANTOWN CHILDREN’S & YOUTH CHOIRS (MCYC) began as the Morgantown Children's Choir (MCC) in 2011. The vision for this choir was initiated by Kathleen Montgomery who had a goal to provide high-quality choral singing, training, & performance opportunities for the children of the Morgantown area. MCYC has performed in various venues over the years. The first invitation that the choir received was in a guest appearance role with The American Boys Choir at Suncrest Methodist Church. The MCYC also has sung with The Chanticleer Choir, the Appalachian Children's Choir, and has performed numerous WVU choral concerts, including WVU Holiday concerts with The West Virginia Symphony Orchestra since 2015. The choir was first invited to perform at the Celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, in 2013 and has joined this celebration for several years since then. The choir has also performed the past several years at the Festival of Trees, an event to support the WVU Hospitals. It also has provided some private performances at the Village of Heritage Point and has performed the National anthem at several WVU sporting events such as gymnastics competitions, basketball, baseball, and volleyball games.  Letícia Grützmann has been the artistic director and conductor of the MCYC since the Fall of 2016 when the Children’s Choir became The Children’s and Youth Choirs.
