Letícia Grützmann
Director of Choirs and Vocal Music at Carroll University
Music Director of the Vox Principalis Choral Association

Dr. Letícia Grützmann is the Assistant Professor of Music and the Director of Choirs and Vocal Music at Carroll University in Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA. In addition, she serves as the Coordinator of the Bachelor Degree in Music Education - Choral Emphasis, and she is a member of the Presidential Taskforce for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. She was recently appointed as the organizer and chair of the Wisconsin Choral Directors Association Undergraduate Conducting Competition. Dr. Grützmann has been an active researcher, presenting conferences at Wisconsin Music Educators Association, Vermont American Choral Directors Association, ACDA - Pennsylvania, and West Virginia Music Teachers National Association. She also has acted as a clinician and guest conductor in the United States and her home country, Brazil.
She has done multidisciplinary collaborations with different educators and artists and dedicated her current research to the development and integration of the choral student with the contemporary topics of the global society and performance practices. As part of her research, she is working on the documentary Celebrating Women, to be released soon.
Before teaching at Carroll University, Dr. Grützmann served as a West Virginia University Community Music Program faculty member. Among her artistic and pedagogical highlights, she served as the Morgantown Children's and Youth Choirs music director and conductor during the seasons 2016/2020. Under her leadership, the ensemble collaborated and shared the stage with the West Virginia Symphony for two seasons in the WVSO Christmas Concerts Series.
To promote and nurture the artistic life and local talents in Morgantown, West Virginia, she founded the Vox Principalis Choral Association, a non-profit organization designed to perform choral-orchestral major works. As this ensemble's artistic director and conductor since its foundation in 2017, she also created the Vox Principalis Concert Series, which has enhanced the community's participation in the cultural scene and promoted young artists in that area.
Letícia Grützmann earned her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Conducting from West Virginia University, where she also pursued a double master's degree in Conducting and Voice Performance. She also holds a bachelor's degree in choral conducting and a bachelor's degree in music education from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.
